Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you very much for your interest in becoming a volunteer with Emmie's Animal Rescue!

Unfortunately, our organization will be moving to the Bay Area in a couple months so at this time we are not able to train any new volunteers.

We highly recommend volunteering with Animal Rescue of Fresno or the Valley Animal Center.

Best Wishes,
Emmie's Animal Rescue

Volunteer Opportunities
Emmie's Animal Rescue is a no kill, non-profit organization run solely on the generous contributions of volunteers and donors. We are always looking for more committed volunteers to help our program and help save lives!

Please feel free to browse our different volunteer opportunities!

Poop Scooper (All ages) - Our kitties which reside at Pet Extreme need to be cared for daily. Volunteers under 18 must be supervised by an adult. Litterboxes need to be scooped, water refilled, food refilled, and the kitties need some loving to help them remain calm in this ever-stressful environment. This position is not currently needed as we do not have any pets residing at the Pet Extreme store. Thank you.

Donation Collector (All Ages) - Thank you to a fellow FreeCycler for this wonderful idea! She and her children walk through their neighborhood with a copy of our Donation Wishlist collecting common household items, requesting donations, and passing out Membership Forms. If you and your children would like to do this in your neighborhood, please contact Emmie for more details!

Foster Home (All Ages) - We are a foster based organization which means that all of our available pets are housed in temporary foster homes, not kennels. We are always in need of new foster homes, especially those which are capable of fostering small or large dogs. Currently, Emmie is the only volunteer who fosters dogs and she has very limited space! Foster care can be as short as one week or as long as a month depending on the pet placed in your home. Homes with dogs, cats, and children a plus to provide the best socialization experiences for your foster!

Adoption Counselor (Must be over 18 or under adult supervision) - We currently have only two active adoption counselors with another three in training. An adoption counselor answers questions at our adoption events, starts interested adopters on applications, handles paperwork, etc. We have had two under-age adoption counselors (ages 8 and 11) who were wonderful with passing out paperwork and helping adopters get kittens out of our enclosures, etc. Unfortunately, they moved to Washington but mature and responsible children are welcome if under the supervision of a parent or guardian also training to be an adoption counselor.

Transporter (Must be over 18) - EAR is quite a small rescue due to the fact that we have very few active foster homes. In an effort to rescue as many animals as possible, we transport several hundred dogs and cats to other rescues in the Bay Area each year. Please sign up to be a volunteer transport. Some gas compensation ($20/trip) is provided thanks to one of our generous volunteers! Most transports are from Fresno to San Francisco though we also occassionally transport to Modesto and Bakersfield.

Please complete our Volunteer Application to become a volunteer!
Thank you!
